God has promised that if you raise your children up in the knowledge of the Lord that they will one day return to him. After having a period of time where the kids moved away from home out of rebellion and not speaking, I found myself in the hospital. Late one evening I noticed that I did not feel right in my chest. After having my wife check my pulse, she called the ambulance. I was found to be in rapid atrial fibrillation and they admitted me to the hospital. I was given medications to slow the heart rate and change the rhythm to normal. It did slow down but remained irregular. My wife notified the children of my being in the hospital and the next morning they came to visit in concern of my new cardiac problem. Their PaPa was never sick and so this was quiet a scare for them. The doctor came in that morning and informed me that my heart was still in afib. and he would give me another medication that should convert my heart to normal but if in two hours I had not converted then they would have to put me to sleep with anesthesia and shock my heart with electricity back into normal rhythm. This was not something I was looking forward to. My wife had also notified the church to pray and that I was in the hospital. Pastor Larry Reeves was there along with my kids when the nurse came in to tell me to go to the restroom and get ready to have cardioversion because I had not converted with the medication after two hours. Pastor Larry Reeves prayed a simple prayer over me and my kids for healing that day before he left. Five minutes later as I was preparing to go, the nurse came running back into the room all excited and said, “I don’t know if it was the power of prayer or what, but at the very moment you were praying your heart went back into normal rhythm and you do not have to go for cardioversion.” The doctors were told of this and they tried to excuse it off as the medicine finally kicked in, but I kn ow that God healed me that day and he may have used the medication to do so but the timing of the healing during prayer and in the presence of my children that were not living as they should, was God’s timing and healing. I praise God for his healing. I had never had a physical heart problem before that and I have not had it since December 2006. My kids are not necessarily back in church but our relationship is stronger and closer now and I still claim God’s promise to bring them back to him.

I moved here in 2007 to continue my relationship with my (then) future wife. Within 3 weeks of looking for work, I found a job at CB&I and began to stabilize my life. The job provided steady income and great insurance and it has been a blessing. I was layed off in April 2009, and found a job within 2 months making the same salary and was enabled to keep my COBRA so my wife could have much needed surgeries and treatment. I am doing what I love, my kids see how I have grown and changed and my young marriage (2yrs on 13th of January) is getting better. My life has been in shambles for 10yrs, and since I have come here and settled and stayed in church, I am starting to see solid results. I am grateful to the Rose Heights congregation and leadership for being accessible and supportive.

The second Friday in June of 2009, I was on a required day off by my company and got called in. My boss told me that they were doing another round of layoffs. Once I got to the office, he told me that I was a part of the layoffs and gave me my walking papers. I was out of work and had my wife and 3 year old daughter to care for, but I did not allow being out of work discourage me. In fact, I had more time for my family and more time for God. I did not give up, but kept believing God. I knew that my God would give us the desires of our hearts and be true to his word. About 2 months later, I receive a call from a good friend that was still working for the company that I worked for, and he offered me a job. So he re-hired me and I was given a better position, better pay, and all expenses to be reimbursed. Even though I had to move 8 hours away from my hometown, the word says “you must leave your parents and cling to your wife” so we did just that and moved to Tyler, Tx. However, it I did not stop there because we were looking for a good Bible based church. A great neighbor told us about a church called Rose Heights. We attended our first service in early September 2009, and have been attending ever since. My wife would always tell me that when you ask for something you will receive it. We received even more than we ask for. My God’s timing is always perfect and he is never too late.

With the help of the staff and members of Rose Heights, the kids have felt the tender hand of God comfort them through their loss with great victory. Now that I am a single mother of 3, I am very blessed to have a wonderful, caring extended Rose Heights Family full of support, love and friends.

Here is another one…

It fills my heart each day when my five-year-old tells me “God gives us food” or “God will heal my scratch”. I know she is provided with the wonderful lessons provided by a one of a kind children’s department. They help her learn in a visual and creative way that she remembers months down the road. I am happy to see she is being instilled with divine morals and beliefs to enrich her strong character. Thanks!

“In January of this year I found myself in a world of hurt going through a separation from my wife and kids. I started going to Rose Heights that month and found out that they had a Divorce Care group that had just started as well. I continued to go to Sunday school and Services in addition to starting the Divorce Care group on Wednesday. The people at the church were continually praying for me and making me feel very welcome and normal, which I didn’t feel at the time. As time has pasted God has begun to heal my hurts and my deep feelings of abandonment. If it were not for the warm hearted people at Rose Heights I do not know where I would have ended up or what I would have done.

Because of Rose Heights I am on my way to a closer walk with Jesus and becoming fully healed by His wonderful mercy.”

Though we are not physically able to take an active part as we used to when we were younger, we do not feel left out. We feel the warmth of friendship of the pastors and the people.
We had finally found our church home, everyone was so friendly, And our eyes were open differently and we understood more and better in that church than in any other church we’ve ever attended. Pastor Doug preaches from the heart, no one makes you feel out of place, they never force you to do anything your not ready

Our pastors and friends at Rose Heights were wonderful durning that time, no matter how often we called upon them they were there for us. For some of the funerals our church stepped in and served lunch for the family. My brothers who don’t live in Tyler and don’t attend chruch were amazed that someone would do that for us. I am grateful for a church family that ministers to each other and who are willing to plant seed by such a simple act of kindness as serving a meal. Thank you!!
